Renowned for portraying his witty, stereotypical norteño character named "Piporro" in the Pedro Infante film Ahí viene Martín Corona (1952), Eulalio González quickly became one of the box-office stars of the 1960s and the best norteño comedian ever. During his youth he studied medicine and accounting, though he never sought these professions. His first break came when he working as a radio announcer and popular film actor-singer Pedro Infante invited him to participate in the radio-novela "Martín Corona". It would not be until the early 1960s when González's popularity grew in both film and music, starring as the leading man in the films The Ship of Monsters (1960), Ruletero a toda marcha (1962), El rey del tomate (1963), El bracero del año (1964), La Valentina (1966), Qué hombre tan sin embargo (1967), and El pistolero desconocido (1967). By the time the film was released, he had returned to Mexico, where he became a prominent actor, starring in Alberto Gout's "Adán y Eva", also from 1956.

In his last years, Carlos Baena had a weekly television program in Channel 28, in the state of Nuevo León, about music, theater, culture and the bohemian life, and published his poems. - Christopher Columbus was an Italian explorer and navigator who completed four Spanish-based voyages across the Atlantic Ocean sponsored by the Catholic Monarchs of Spain, opening the way for the widespread European exploration and colonization of the Americas. - General Emilio Mola y Vidal was born on June 9, 1887, in Placetas, Cuba, where his father was stationed as a Spanish Army officer. He enrolled in the Infantry Academy in 1907, and served in the Spanish colonial war against the Rif tribes in Morocco, where he was decorated for bravery. He went on to become director of security in the left-wing Popular Front government. In Feburary, 1936, he was posted to Pamplona as military governor. His conservative politics had made him unpopular with the Communist dominated government, and he joined the plot by army officers to overthrow it. Mola's energy and drive made him the group's chief of planning. After Francisco Franco started the revolt in Spanish Morocco, Mola proclaimed the revolt in effect, which was the start of the Spanish Civil War, on July 19, 1936. When the chief plotter, General Sanjurjo, was killed in a plane crash, Mola got command of the northern Nationalist forces, while Franco commanded in the south. It was at this time that Mola made a radio address that described Nationalist sympathizers in Madrid as a "fifth column," the first time the term was used. Emilio Mola was killed in a plane crash on June 3, 1937, six days shy of his fiftieth birthday. His body was buried at Pamplona, but was moved in 1961 to the Valley of the Fallen, outside Madrid.
